-
Description
This mysterious Ancient Egyptian Ceramic Sculpture of a Boetian Horse on Wood Plinth Base originates from Egypt, 3rd-1st Century BCE. Features a beautifully sculpted form with carefully graduated curves and applied detailing of the harness and bridle. The applied detailing is partially intact, with subtly depicted musculature of the boetian horse, particularly around the shoulders, hind legs, underneath the jay, and around the eyes and ears. Subtle transitions of form within a unified stable body provide an elegant and sophisticated presence, supported and framed by the rectilinear wood plinth base. A fascinating artifact of the ancients, this sculpture represents our unending desire to depict the features and beings of the surrounding world, a lovely testament to our innovative practice of design and depiction throughout time. This piece will style beautifully in a wide array of spaces and settings, from Mid-Century Modernist to Contemporary and Minimal Interiors. In Excellent Vintage Condition.
