Early Restored Saarinen Knoll 42" Round Tulip Coffee Table Walnut & Iron Base

Description
Since the 1950s, these tables, along with this era of Knoll furniture as a whole, have gained a cult following, and for good reason. In some ways, they represent the pinnacle of American Mid-Century design: absolutely timeless look, and unmatched quality. This example features a 42" round bookmatched walnut top set onto a highly sought-after iron base, with a wooden intermediary plate between. All these characteristics date this table to the 1950s, less than a decade after its introduction in the US market. If you love design, and are keen on owning a little slice of Mid-Century history, this table is for you. At this time, we may have a matching iron-base walnut dining table. They complement each other absolutely wonderfully.
This model, like our dining table, has been professionally and expertly restored inside and out. The top has been stripped of old finish chemically and by hand-sanding, followed by application of new stain and two coats of clear satin lacquer. Then finished by hand-burnishing with wax and fine steel wool.
The intermediary plate has been repainted.
The base has been stripped of multiple coats of old paint, down to bare metal, then prepped, cleaned, and repainted and sealed.
This table as whole is in as close to new condition as is possible for a piece approaching its 70th birthday. Please see our high-res photos to get the best idea of the work we've done. - More Information
