Description
Throughout the 20th century, wood had been the most important furniture material. This is especially true for the mid-century era, during which it was a staple material across the world for its ability to enhance both the structural and visual aspect of furniture. This lounge chair was created in Indonesia, a country with a long history in woodworking, furniture-making, and fine craftsmanship dating back centuries.
This chair embodies the clean lines and aesthetic characteristics of the mid-century modern era, while also incorporating elements that ensure both comfort and style. Its silhouette is sleek and distinctive, with a low profile that exudes a contemporary feel. The chair offers a grounded look without overpowering the space it occupies. The wooden frame is balanced in every sense of the word, with an airy back structure thanks to the parallel slats. The textured upholstery of the seat and round back cushion beautifully complements the frame. The chair embodies comfort and cosiness through the mix of proportions and expertly selected materials. The rich shade of the wood pairs perfectly with the cream upholstery. What sets this piece apart from so many of its period is the cabinetmaker’s balance between surfaces - compared to most lounge chairs where the upholstery is the main element of the design, this chair allows the generous wooden frame to stand out. This feature can also be seen from a functional point of view, essentially increasing the surface of the chair, while the back cushion is removable for increased versatility.
With a classic yet eye-catching design and solid quality, this lounge chair is effortlessly elegant. Perfect for those who value style and quality, it can offer timeless charm to any room.
