Dining Table by Charlotte Perriand, France, 1950s
-
Description
This trestle table is a rare and refined example of Charlotte Perriand’s utilitarian modernist ethos. Designed during the 1950s, the table embodies Perriand’s dedication to honest materials, simple forms, and a balance between rustic and architectural elements. Known for her collaborations with Le Corbusier and her later independent work, Perriand developed a style that was both functional and warm - a balance clearly seen in this piece.
Made from solid oak, the table features clean lines and slightly angled legs connected by a central stretcher. The exposed joinery showcases the artisanal craftsmanship that Perriand valued, especially in her work during and after her time in the French Alps. It works equally well as a dining table or a work surface, fitting seamlessly into both contemporary and traditional interiors. -
