Description
Dated to the mid-19th century, this grand daybed features a woven rattan top set within a richly aged elmwood frame. The low daybed is supported by four short cabriole legs that curve outwards with an elegant flourish. Each leg is decorated by a simple carved leaf motif and trimmed by a beaded edge that runs the length of the table apron. Known as "ta," this style of low-lying daybed was used throughout the courtyard home as a portable surface for reclining, playing games, and gathering for food and drink.
