Bohemian Studio Glass Sommerso Vase, Jaroslav Svoboda, Skrdlovice Beranek, 1970s
-
Description
A monumental hand-blown art glass vase, standing 10 inches tall, designed by Jaroslav Svoboda and crafted by Skrdlovice / Beránek Glassworks in the Czech Republic (formerly Czechoslovakia) in the 1970s. This lovely piece features a bold cobalt blue core encased in thick, clear crystal glass. Made using the renowned Sommerso technique, it showcases the sculptural aesthetic characteristic of Beránek studio glass. A multitude of controlled internal air bubbles adds dynamic texture, depth, and a sense of movement to the vase. This is a very solid, heavy vase, weighing approximately 10 lbs (4.5 kg). It remains in excellent condition, with no signs of use—most likely a display piece that was never actively used. Still retains its original label: "Bohemia Glass – Made in Czechoslovakia.“ A truly visually captivating piece.
