Antique Flemish painting from the 18th century, popular genre scene
-
Description
Refined Flemish painting from the 18th century. Oil on canvas artwork depicting a lively genre scene, of notable pictorial quality and rich in minute details. In a rustic setting, probably outside an inn, some popular figures are carefreely consuming food and wine. The background with classical ruins and the warm colours presumably hark back to the Italo-Flemish school of the Bamboccianti. 19th century frame in carved and gilded wood, beautifully decorated, with some signs of aging. Painting that has undergone conservative restoration with the application of the canvas on a board and retouching of the colour in small spots. Overall in good condition. Interior size H 48 x W 39 cm.
