Wide, reeded molding around this 19th century French gilt wall mirror is an ideal surface area to reflect the lustre of gold leaf, now patinated with a fine craquelure texture. Symmetrical for mounting in either direction, the rectangular mirror would look sharp in any room; original mirror glass exhibits a fine haze of foxing, drawing the viewer in for a closer look.
