"Still, You Gotta Admit Crime is Down" - New Yorker Cartoon
-
Description
Gahan Wilson was a Conceptual Artist who was also a Cartoonist.
The present work was considered as a cover for the New Yorker Magazine for the Jan, 9, 1998 issue. It made it up to the mock-up stage, but the editors decided to run it as a full page interior in the Jan. 19, 1998 issue instead. The Fifth Avenue light and light pole were added as a "printer's strip-in" afterthought and do not exist in the present work. Yet, everything else in the work is identical. Signed lower left. unframed Sheet size, 9 x 12 inches . Caption: "Still, You Gotta Admit Crime is Down" -
