This refined Swedish Gustavian chest of drawers, dating to around 1840, showcases the graceful neoclassical lines and painted detailing characteristic of the period. The piece features a subtly curved front with four spacious drawers, each fitted with original round brass pulls and escutcheons. A striking Greek key frieze in gold and soft cream tones adorns the top drawer, lending a touch of classical ornamentation to the restrained form. The top surface is beautifully faux-painted to mimic marble, a technique widely used in 19th-century Sweden to achieve an elegant look while preserving lightness and practicality. Finished in a softly patinated pale tone, the chest exudes understated sophistication and timeless appeal.
