Description
PAIR OF FIGURAL BRONZE PAPERWEIGHTS OVER CARARRA MARBLE BASES
Circa early 19th century; models of "Il Porcellino" and "Wounded Stag"
Item # C104009 A superb pair of 19th century paperweights featuring sand-cast figural sculptures after the ancient works of Il Porcellino (The Wild Boar) and Wounded Stag. Both are very finely cast in light of their petite dimensions with crisp chiseling and finishing of the details throughout, each finished in a brown and black chemical patination and sealed under wax. They are situated over original carrara marble bases with gilt beading around the upper edge.
Measurements: 4 5/8" H x 3" D x 5 3/4" W [stag, overall]; 4 1/2" H x 3" D x 5 3/4" W [boar, overall] Condition Report:
Light chipping to edges of the marble; stains and discolorations to the marble. Minor handling wear. Overall very fine presentations. -
