Oscar Heyman Mid-Century Diamond Earrings

$ 125,000
  • Description
    With a total diamond weight of 17.28 carats, and accompanied by GIA reports, these classic Oscar Heyman Mid-Century diamond cluster earrings are mounted in platinum. Each earring is designed as a floral cluster of marquise, round and pear-cut diamonds, suspending a 3.00 or 3.25 carat pear-shape diamond, accompanied by GIA reports stating F/SI1 and G/VS2 color and clarity. Crisp and elegant, with fine stones clustered at subtly varied elevations to enhance visual interest and play of light, these beautifully-made Mid-Century earrings are a jewel box classic.

    Materials: 8 pear-shape diamonds (approximate total weight 12.88 carats); 6 marquise-cut diamonds (approximate total weight 3.40 carats); 2 round diamonds (approximate total weight 1.00 carats); Platinum
    Documentation: Accompanied by GIA report no. 123616173 dated June 23, 2025 stating that the pear-shape carat diamond weighing 3.20 carats is F color, SI1 clarity, and GIA report no.2235616142, dated June 23, 2025, stating that the pear-shape carat diamond weighing 3.25 carats is G color, VS2 clarity. Also accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity dated June 10, 2025 from Oscar Heyman, specifying the diamond weights, noting the date of manufacture as December 26, 1961, and stating that the serial number is 111946.

    This Mid-Century earring type in the so-called 'Regal" style was touched off in the 1950s by the coronation of Elizabeth II in 1953. Harry Winston in particular achieved this effect through minimizing the presence of metal in the mounting, as well as "through an extravagant use of pear- and marquise-shaped diamonds", according to the Oscar Heyman monograph by Yvonne Markowitz and Elizabeth Hamilton. During this period, Heyman became the preferred manufacturer of jewelry in the "Regal" style for Winston, Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels in New York. See Oscar Heyman: The Jewelers' Jeweler, p. 64.
