These 1950s dining chairs by Carlo di Carli embody mid-century Italian design, featuring elegant walnut frames with flared legs and sinuous lines, representative of the organic forms characteristic of de Carli’s work. The seats are in their original period upholstery.
Carlo De Carli was an important Italian architect, designer, and architectural theorist, considered one of the leading figures of Italian Modernism and post-war design.
His theoretical thinking is highly relevant, following in the footsteps of Gio Ponti, and focuses on the idea that architectural practice should be the same for both large buildings and small objects, summed up in the expression “from the spoon to the city.
