Description
Superb coffee table signed by Piero Fornasetti, dating from the 1960s, from the renowned Architettura series created in collaboration with Gio Ponti. Its structured form and graphic lines highlight the balance and elegance characteristic of mid-20th-century Italian design, enhanced by Fornasetti’s meticulous silkscreen decoration. Fully restored, it retains a beautiful patina on the feet while presenting an impeccable appearance and is ready for use. This coffee table, documented and sought after on the international market, is a rare and decorative piece, ideal for any contemporary interior or design collection.
Piero Fornasetti (1913–1988) was an Italian designer and decorator, renowned for his poetic and graphic style. Born in Milan, he trained in architecture while developing a passion for drawing and the decorative arts. In the 1930s, he founded his workshop and created furniture and objects adorned with original motifs, including the famous Lina Cavalieri faces. His work combines imagination and artisanal skill, transforming each object into a work of art. In the 1950s, he collaborated with architect Gio Ponti on the renowned Architettura series, where his graphic and architectural motifs were paired with modern furniture forms. His creations from the 1950s and 1960s embody mid-20th-century Italian design, combining a unique identity with decorative elegance. -
