Chrysler Building Lobby Art Deco in New York, Chrysler Building Lobby Art Deco

$ 5,750
  • Description
    New York's Art Deco grandeur is on full display everywhere in the Chrysler Building lobby. Decorative fair even exists in the metal wall frames. In this close-up photograph of one of them, the building's management cleverly inserted a picture of the iconic exterior spire. The display serves as corporate branding and establishes the spire as a logo for the building's identity. Here, Mitchell Funk photographs a photograph within a frame, which is set against the rich red Moroccan marble. Funk allows the viewer to see the Chrysler Building inside the Chrysler Building or to appreciate the building's interior and exterior simultaneously. His photograph is well-lit, carefully cropped, and exhibits the exact symmetry of the Chrysler Building's design.

    The image is part of a new epic exhibition, Mitchell Funk Photographs The Chrysler Building for 50 Years
    The Chrysler Building is one of the most photographed buildings in the world. Yet Mitchell Funk's photographs of it are anything but a tourist snapshot. For over 50 years, Funk has been celebrating and rediscovering it visually in a way that exemplifies the innovative spirit of its creators.
