Description
A commanding early 19th Century English partners desk, featuring a expansive leather-lined top over two pedestals equipped with working drawers and cupboards on both sides. Designed to accommodate two people working in tandem, this form became a hallmark of the English legal and banking professions for its blend of collaborative function and impressive stature.
Circa 1820, this original period desk was crafted during the height of the English Regency, a time when furniture was designed to be as much an architectural statement as a functional tool.
Built from richly grained mahogany with a hand-tooled leather writing surface, the piece stands on a sturdy plinth base and retains its original brass hardware. Rooted in the English Regency tradition, this desk reflects the era's preference for clean, neoclassical lines and high-quality timber, offering a sense of history and presence to a modern home office. -
