Description
A striking pair of late 19th century French porcelain vases by the renowned workshop of Edmé Samson, featuring finely painted mythological scenes set against a vibrant green ground with delicate gold detailing. The baluster forms are flanked by elegant handles in the shape of double-coiled snakes, while the bodies depict classical narratives including Diana and Actaeon.
Circa 1890, these pieces were created during a period when the Samson factory was celebrated for its sophisticated reinterpretations of 18th century ceramic traditions.
Porcelain decorated with polychrome enamels and finished with ornate ormolu mounts on the covers and bases. Rooted in the Napoleon III tradition and reflecting a refined Louis XVI revival style, these vases embody the 19th century French passion for classical grandeur and the exceptional skill of the Samson atelier. -
