Pair of Bespoke John Dickinson Etruscan Armchairs, circa 1980. 5 pairs available

$ 1,500
  • Description
    A pair of bespoke Etruscan armchairs by the influential American designer John Dickinson (1920-1982), whose work seamlessly blended ancient forms with a modern, whimsical sensibility. These iconic chairs feature sculptural frames raised on carved animal legs, showcasing the chic and idiosyncratic style that established Dickinson as a leading figure in 20th century California design.

    Circa 1980, these original period pieces were created during the decade when Dickinson’s furniture became highly coveted by collectors for its unique character.

    Upholstered in fabric and raised on carved wood legs finished in an ivory craquelure lacquer. Rooted in the Neoclassical tradition with influences from Greek and Roman antiquity, these chairs represent the designer’s talent for reinterpreting historical elements through a playful, modern lens.
