Brenda Houston

American

American designer Brenda Houston has long been captivated by the allure of gemstones, crystals and minerals, which she gives pride of place in her opulent tables, lighting and decorative accessories. Working with an exclusive network of miners and dealers throughout the world, she locates exceptional specimens, showcasing them in her couture handcrafted furnishings. Some of the minerals Brenda incorporates into her pieces are more than one hundred million years old. Knowing where and how to slice open the stone takes many years of experience. Once the interior section is visible, she lets the unique veining, color and silhouette of the cross-section suggest what the slab will ultimately become.

Brenda began her career designing retail displays for such brands as Issey Miyake, Giorgio Armani and Donna Karan, and then innovated award-winning jewelry store interiors for Bailey Banks & Biddle, and later David Yurman.

She launched her namesake design studio in 2008 with table lamps, and soon added treasure boxes, vessels and decorative side tables. Today, balancing her time between Dallas, Los Angeles and New York, she has a significant bespoke following, counting A-list interiors firms, celebrities, royal family members and luxury hoteliers among her clients.
