Carlos Cesar Alves
Brazilian, 1964
Artist Bio: Carlos Cesar Alves ( Brazil)
Carlos Cesar Alves, a Brazilian artist living with achromatopsia—a condition marked by a complete or partial absence of color vision—navigates his world in shades of black, white, and gray. Remarkably, this unique perspective fuels his creativity, allowing him to produce vibrant, colorful artworks that captivate audiences.
As a process-based artist specializing in both 2D and 3D resin work, Carlos showcases a remarkable versatility across various techniques. Though self-taught, he has earned numerous accolades and holds the prestigious title of “Resin Master” from Gobetto, one of Europe’s leading resin manufacturers based in Milan. His art invites viewers to explore his fascinating monochromatic universe, transforming what might seem like a limitation into an artistic strength.
Carlos employs epoxy resin as a primary medium, crafting stunning abstract and geometric pieces that blur the lines between traditional and contemporary art. He began his artistic journey in 2006 after a successful career in the corporate sector, including roles as Financial Director at General Motors’ Electro Motive division in Brazil and as Project Manager for Operations and Technology at Citibank in the USA. Since then, he has participated in over 150 exhibitions and artist residencies worldwide, earning numerous awards along the way.
Currently, Carlos is developing a distinctive furniture line, merging his passion for mid-century design with his artistic vision. Each piece is a unique work of art, reimagining original mid-century furniture into exquisite creations. In addition, he conducts resin workshops at his studio in Pompano Beach, FL, sharing his expertise with aspiring artists.
Carlos Cesar Alves is undoubtedly an artist to watch, continuously pushing the boundaries of creativity and expression.
