Daniel Jacomet
French, 1894 - 1966
Daniel Jacomet (1894-1966) was a Swiss-born engraver and printmaker known for his intricate and detailed wood engravings. He was born in Zurich, Switzerland and studied at the School of Decorative Arts in that city. He later worked as a designer for the renowned Swiss printing house, Graphis, before dedicating himself full-time to printmaking.
Jacomet's work is characterized by its incredible detail and precision, as well as its use of light and shadow to create depth and texture. He often focused on natural subjects, such as trees, plants, and animals, and was inspired by the Swiss countryside where he lived and worked. In addition to wood engravings, Jacomet also worked in lithography and etching.
Jacomet's work is highly sought after by collectors and has been exhibited in galleries and museums around the world. He won numerous awards for his work, including the Grand Prix at the 1952 Venice Biennale.
