Don Gummer
American
Don Gummer is an American sculptor who was born in 1946 in Louisville, Kentucky. He is known for his large-scale public sculptures, as well as his smaller, more intimate works. Gummer studied at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and Yale University School of Art.
Gummer's sculptures often explore themes of nature, spirituality, and human emotion, and his work is characterized by its flowing, organic forms and its use of materials such as bronze, stainless steel, and aluminum. He is particularly well-known for his public sculptures, which can be found in cities throughout the United States, including New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles.
In addition to his work as a sculptor, Gummer is also a painter and a printmaker. He has exhibited his work in galleries and museums around the world, and he has received numerous awards and accolades for his contributions to the field of sculpture. Gummer is married to the actress Meryl Streep, and the couple has four children together.
