Founders Furniture Company
American
Founders Furniture Company, is a celebrated American brand that made a significant impact during the mid-20th century. Known for their iconic mid-century modern designs, Founders Furniture Company created a range of streamlined dressers, lounge chairs, and coffee tables that exude timeless appeal.
Established in 1946 as a residential division of Knoll Inc., Founders Furniture Company quickly gained recognition for its commitment to exceptional craftsmanship and simple yet elegant designs. Collaborating with renowned American modernist designers such as Milo Baughman and David Parmelee, the brand crafted sleek commodes and sideboards using solid wood construction in rich mahogany and rosewood.
Under the guidance of head designer Jack Cartwright, Founders Furniture Company continued to innovate and captivate the market with their distinctive pieces. However, in 1965, the brand was acquired by Thomasville Furniture, a leading furniture manufacturer based in North Carolina.
Despite its relatively short lifespan, the legacy of Founders Furniture Company lives on through its timeless styles and exceptional craftsmanship. Today, these pieces continue to be highly sought-after, effortlessly complementing contemporary interiors with their enduring charm.
