Henri-Louis Duhamel du Monceau

French, 1700 - 1782
Henri Louis Du Hamel, whose name later underwent a de-nobilitation to become Duhamel, was born in 1700 in Paris. Originating from a family of farmers in Denainvilliers, near Pithiviers, his early years remain shrouded in mystery, as scant information exists about his childhood and pre-college life. However, he left an indelible mark as a versatile figure who explored an impressive array of fields.
Duhamel's impactful journey concluded with his passing in Paris on August 13, 1782. His forests in Vrigny and Denainvilliers housed an astounding 692 tree species at the time of his death. His legacy endures as an inspiration to aspiring amateurs and scientists alike, reflecting the remarkable breadth of his achievements.
