Irving Penn (1917-2009) was an American photographer known for his iconic fashion and portrait photographs. He began his career in the 1940s and rose to prominence in the 1950s thanks to his work for Vogue magazine. He was known for his precise compositions, lighting, and precise printing techniques. He photographed a wide range of subjects, from fashion models to everyday objects, and his images are now considered iconic. He was awarded numerous honors throughout his career, including the Hasselblad Award in 2003 and the National Medal of Arts in 2005.
