Kate Duncan

Canadian
It was as a pre-teen, in Junior High School that Kate Duncan was introduced to woodworking. Little did she know, that first shop class would be the beginning of an entire career in furniture making and design. Since her days in Jr. High, Duncan has dedicated the last twenty some years to honing her craft and developing her aesthetic and nowadays, Duncan produces bespoke heirloom-quality furniture out of her Toronto studio.
She crafts each and every piece by hand utilizing traditional joinery and manufacturing techniques. Flawless dovetails and delicate knife hinges done up in sustainably harvested solid North American hardwoods set her work apart. Her dedication to the craft is apparent in the quality and precision of each and every piece. Duncan’s work is clean and contemporary, heavily influenced by the architecture of the Brutalist movement, made popular in the 70’s and 80’s
