Mick Rock (1948–2021), born Michael David Rock in London, was a legendary music and cultural photographer often dubbed “The Man Who Shot the ’70s.” After studying languages at Cambridge, he stumbled into photography and soon became the visual chronicler of glam and punk rock. Rock captured iconic images of artists like David Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust, Lou Reed, Iggy Pop, Queen, Blondie, and more, shaping the visual identity of rock music. He also directed memorable music videos and contributed still photography to cult classics like The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Later in life, he photographed modern music icons and published several acclaimed photo books. His work continues to be exhibited and celebrated worldwide, with limited-edition prints available at Galerie Prints UK and other prestigious outlets.
