Pierre Digan

Pierre Digan (1941–2016) was a French ceramist and sculptor renowned for his contributions to modern ceramic art. Born in Guadeloupe, Digan trained at the École des Arts Appliqués in Beaune under ceramist Michel Lucotte. In 1960, he settled in La Borne, a village known for its ceramic tradition, where he established his workshop. Collaborating with ceramist Barbara Delfosse, Digan produced both sculptural pieces and utilitarian stoneware, often featuring a distinctive pyrite finish. His work gained international acclaim, leading to exhibitions in France, Japan, and the United States. In the 1980s, Digan shifted focus to monumental sculptures and public art installations, leaving a lasting impact on the ceramic arts.
