Todd Lachance
Canadian
Todd is a representational fine artist based in Calgary, Alberta, with a lifelong passion for art. His artistic journey began with a focus on drawing portraits, figures, and cartooning. In his early twenties, he expanded his skills by studying painting at the Alberta College of Art and Design (ACAD) while also pursuing his love for speed skating. Seeking a deeper understanding of traditional art fundamentals, he found his education through mentorship, direct study of masterworks, and hands-on experience in various artistic environments.
Todd spends considerable time outdoors, immersing himself in the landscapes he wishes to capture. He prefers to work in natural settings and from life whenever possible, often creating larger studio pieces based on smaller outdoor sketches.
Influenced by iconic artists such as Tom Thomson, John Singer Sargent, and Anders Zorn, Todd shares their fascination with light and color and their profound impact on our perception of the world. His diverse interests encompass landscapes, figures, and portraits, reflecting his commitment to exploring and conveying the beauty of his surroundings.
