McCoy Pottery is an American pottery company that was founded in 1910 in Ohio. Originally known as the Nelson McCoy Sanitary Stoneware Company, the company began by producing functional stoneware items such as crocks, jugs, and mixing bowls. However, it wasn't until the 1920s that McCoy Pottery began to produce more decorative pieces, such as vases and planters, that would become their trademark items. Over the years, McCoy Pottery became known for their colorful glazes, intricate designs, and high-quality craftsmanship. The company experienced a surge in popularity in the 1940s and 1950s, when their pottery was a staple in many American homes. Though the company faced financial difficulties in the 1970s and eventually closed its doors in 1990, McCoy Pottery remains a beloved and highly collectible brand among pottery enthusiasts today.
