Before Mr. Husted joined Blenko Glass Company as its Design Director in 1953, lamps of this scale were virtually unheard of. Our Wave lamp, for example, seen in the above photograph, is a stately 36-1/4 inches, and features an adjustable harp that allows for a full 48 inch height.
A graduate of Alfred University, Mr. Husted brought his love of Bauhaus design and large-scale architectural form to Blenko at a time when the company was gaining recognition as a leader in modern glassware for the home. Blenko's previous Design Director, Winslow Anderson, had been making a name for Blenko with his decanters and vases, whose sensuous forms and rich colors spoke to the mid-century modern homeowner.
