3 Volumes. Geoffrey Chaucer, The Canterbury Tales. Bound in 3/4 red morocco and marbled boards, the spines display raised bands, floral panel details, bordering, and label lettering, all gilt-tooled. All of the edges are gilded. Includes an essay on his language and versification, and an introductory discourse, together with notes and a glossary by Thomas Tyrwhitt, as well as a memoir and critical dissertation by George Gilfillan. Published by James Nichol, James Nisbet & Co., and W. Robertson in Edinburgh, London, and Dublin respectively, 1860.
