    8vo., (9 ¼ x 6 ½ inches). Four-page pamphlet listing subscribers laid inside front cover, second copy of pamphlet taped inside back cover (pale water stains to upper corner of the first few leaves). Illustrated with black-and-white photographs throughout (some scattered light offsetting). Original suede cloth binding in pictorial dust jacket (professionally repaired tear along most of the length of the rear gutter).

    First edition, limited issue, number 290 of 300 signed copies for subscribers. A near fine copy of an essential piece of Texana, this charmingly illustrated volume recounts the War Department’s novel experiment of using camels to travel around Texas and facilitate trade.
