Detmold's rarest work and the highlight of any Detmold book collection.

First edition; 4to (285 x 230 mm); illustrated with 12 full-page tipped-in colour plates by E. J. Detmold, captioned tissue guards, neat ink gift presentation to half-title, not affecting text , some spotting and toning to endpapers, upper hinge split but firm, the odd, very occasional light spot elsewhere to some text leaves but in the main, very clean and bright; publisher's cream cloth, gilt blocked to upper cover and spine , lower cover a trifle dusty, otherwise near-fine; housed in original publisher's box with colour illustration mounted on pull-off lid, rubbed and stained, lid with one short side and 5cm of one long side replaced but this box has done a marvellous job in preserving the book and rarely survives in any state.
