Description
French brass and red enamel compendium carriage clock and barometer
French, late 19th Century
Height 16cm, width 17cm, depth 7cm
With the clock to the left and barometer to the right, this beautiful compendium clock and barometer, designed as a travel set, was made in France in the late 19th century, featuring a variety of intricate and skilfully crafted technical elements. The dial of the barometer is labelled, 'Made in Paris,' and the piece also features a thermometer to the centre and a compass on top. An escapement viewing pane on top allows a view of the machinery inside; however, the highlight of this fine piece is undoubtedly the red enamel panels which adorn and decorate the casing, rendering it an unmissable collector's piece. -
