French, Late 19th Century

Vases: Height 38cm, width 14cm, depth 11cm
This exceptional antique clock set consists of a central clock flanked by a pair of small vases. Stylistically, the set is as much a synthesis of earlier styles, as it is of materials. The vases are reminiscent of Sevres works, and the clock features a combination of Louis XVI, and Rococo elements. The materials used are a wonderful mix of porcelain, enamel, gilt-bronze and glass. The clock, with its circular dial, pendulum, and painted panels is decorated, as are the vases, with beautiful champlevé enamel work, an unusual find on works of this time, demonstrating the undoubtable quality of the piece and the skill of its maker. The porcelain is signed 'Lefranc.' -
