Very large French Louis XV style ormolu mantel clock

This fine 19th Century clock is unusually large, standing at 98cm in height, giving a uniquely palatial feel and a true sense of grandeur and majesty.
The clock is cast from ormolu with scrolling shell and acanthus features; such details being associated with art and furnishings from the Louis XV era. It is surmounted by a cherub in the clouds with his love arrows by his side. The inset movement is fronted by a large dial with fine engraved work and set with 12 enamel panels for the hours. The case is inset with multiple gilt pierced panels, allowing the clock sounds to be transmitted in the best way possible for a large room. -
