Description
Considered to be one of the classic examples of American streamline design, this iconic original streamline Art Deco Sparton radio by Walter Darwin Teague is the 2nd production of the Sparton sled radio. It retains it’s original colbolt blue glass which has a carved and black enameled Art Deco design on the top and front of the radio. This model has 4 knobs to accommodate the extra short wave band. It is an excellent working example. Walter Darwin Teague is considered one of the foremost American modernist industrial designers. Beginning with his first client in 1927 and working well into the 1950’s, he was responsible for changing the face of American Modernism. Through the years he created innovative product designs for Kodak, Spartan radio, Steuben Glass, Steinway, Texaco, Polaroid and many more.
