Description
20th century Chinese hardstone flowering tree in a cloisonné planter
Chinese, 20th Century
Height 42cm, width 33cm, depth 31cm
This exquisite 20th-century Chinese hardstone tree is a beautiful fusion of artistic skill and cultural symbolism. Designed as an ornamental flowering tree, the sculpture is set in a rectangular cloisonné enamel pot, richly glazed in turquoise blue and adorned with traditional floral patterns in shades of pink, red, and cobalt. Gilded accents around the rim and base add a luxurious finish to the planter.
Emerging from the pot is a twisted, wrapped wire trunk that branches into a stunning display of carved hardstone blossoms and leaves. The flowers are shaped from polished stones including rose quartz and agate, with soft pink and orange hues that mimic real blooms. Each flower is delicately detailed with beadwork to suggest stamen, adding depth and realism. The foliage, cut from rich green and mottled nephrite, provides contrast and texture, enhancing the naturalistic effect.
Beyond its decorative appeal, this floral sculpture is deeply rooted in Chinese symbolism. Nephrite is traditionally associated with protection and good fortune and rose quartz with emotional healing and love. These carefully chosen stones imbue the piece with spiritual meaning as well as visual charm.
Perfect for collectors of Asian decorative arts, this ornamental tree offers a timeless blend of natural beauty, cultural significance, and refined craftsmanship. - More Information
