Crafted from the timeless combination of malachite and gilt bronze, this monumental fireplace is a striking expression of the Empire style. The blocky fireplace is richly veneered in malachite, revealing the lustrous and varied structure of this spectacular stone. The fireplace features twin square profile columns, one to each side; each column is finished with a gilt bronze figurative capital, while its face is mounted with intricate gilt bronze foliage. The front of the fireplace features a scrolling, arabesque-like foliate freeze, while the outer sides are set with gilt bronze rosettes. The fireplace is a truly monumental and impressive example of 20th century French decorative art. -
