A commanding example of traditional Indian metalware, this massive copper cooking pot features a deep, hand-hammered form and an original aged surface. Crafted with visible handmade welds and tool marks, the vessel likely served as a temple pot in Gujarat, embodying the incredible scale and functional artistry of 19th-century Indian craftsmanship.
Circa 1880, this original period piece was created during a time when India’s ancient metallurgical traditions were being applied to grand domestic and ritual objects.
Hand-forged copper with an honest, dark chocolate patina and an old surface that has mellowed beautifully with age. Rooted in the Indian traditional style, this oversized vessel reflects a rich cultural heritage of metalwork that has been passed down through generations of skilled artisans.
