Statue of Flora, Italy 18th Century and Later

Description
A very rare and wonderful statue of the goddess Flora sculpted in terra cotta attributed to a student of Giambologna, Franca Villa the top 17th or 18th century. The base an early 20th century restoration. From the collection of Thomas Church, a famous influential landscape architect that studied with Olmstead. This piece is meant to be placed high on a pedestal and viewed from a distance. This statue was used in the secret garden of Thomas Churches’ Hyde street home in San Francisco. He & his wife took a simple Victorian fisherman’s cottage or two and transformed them into a wonderful Italian Folly.
