Description
Two French white onyx and gilt bronze column-shaped stands
French, early 20th Century
One pedestal: Height 100cm, width 26cm, depth 26cm
Other pedestal: Height 101cm, width 26.5cm, depth 26.5cm
These wonderful pedestals are crafted from the finest white onyx—featuring beautiful natural orange parallel bands—with lustrous golden gilt bronze (ormolu) mounts.
The pedestals are shaped like stylised classical Corinthian columns. They are topped by stepped square onyx slabs, perfect for displaying fine works of sculpture and decorative art on. The pedestals feature smooth, cylindrical onyx shafts which are crowned by gilt bronze capitals, decorated with stylised acanthus leaves and rinceau bands. The pedestals stand on gilt bronze bases which are edged with wreaths. They are set on stepped square onyx plinths which are lined with gilt bronze beading. Each pedestal is set on four gilt bronze block feet.
