Description
This is a superb example of a Federal mirror having a molded cornice above balls with a great Neoclassical eglomise panel depicting a woman. The looking glass is flanked by concave columns centered with rope-twisting above blocks. The mirror has remained in exceptional condition.

Origin: United States, Massachusetts Period: 19th Century Materials: Carved giltwood (pine) and gesso, reverse painting on glass, looking glass. Condition: Excellent untouched condition, minor wear and oxidation. Original backboards, tablet and glass. Creation Date: Massachusetts, probably Boston area, ca. 1800-1815.
