Description
A pair of large decorative vases in red and green onyx
Continental, 20th Century
Height 38cm, diameter 15cm
Elegantly designed and and pristinely finished, these fine vases are carved from green and red onyx, with the natural bands, patterns, and tones of the chalcedony on full display. Though identical in proportion and design, the colours and patterns naturally vary, with one dominated by rich earthen tones in orange and brown, and the other more vertically delineated and defined by bands of pale greens, white, and reds. The beauty of the materials used is displayed to great effect, with the result being a pair of wonderful decorative wares, full of presence, style, and colour. -
