Description
A pair of monumental blue and white Delftware vases.
This is the most exceptionally large pair of Delftware vases I have ever had in the collection.
Their size is truly monumental, almost 3 feet in height! ( 34.25 inches)
Imagine them in a hallway, giving everybody a royal welcome in your home. Or beside the fireplace as statement pieces.
They are wonderfully decorated in cobalt blue with a central decor of baskets with flowers in a cartouche. The base, neck, and tops are decorated with leaf and flower ornaments and foliage. The shape is based on a 17th-century Dutch Delft design, the so-called knobbel vases.
Pseudo marked for the Van Duyn workshop. (made in Honor of the workshop).
One vase is in excellent condition with the normal wear and small chips as can be expected for its age.
One vase has a crack in the lower body; the crack has been consolidated and is stable, with an old retouche. -
