French Art Glass Vase by Marisa et Alain Bégou
-
Description
A striking square art glass vase by French glass circa 1998 by artist duo Marisa et Alain Begou (1948; 1945, active since 1970s), who hand blow glass from their studio in Hérault, France. This vase in a weighty near square form is contrast with an exuberant and intense color contained within. Reminds one of a distorted slice of watermelon with black seeds, the abstract pattern in the glass intrigues the viewer to ponder about reality and possibility. The square form has a small opening and it's hollow within the thick glass wall, making it functional as a vase as well. Marked underneath with the signature and a series number as shown. Purchased in Europe in 1990s.
