Description
Serene Kwan Yin (Guanyin) head by Aldo Londi for Bitossi, Italy, 1960s. It has an ornate topknot and closed, meditative eyes, and the saturated cyan glaze pools darker in the carved details. It rests on a striated square plinth, glazed above and raw textured clay below.
Very good vintage condition, with the topknot intact. There are small nicks and one slightly larger chip to the unglazed lower plinth, plus a pinpoint glaze nick at an upper plinth corner. The nose tip has a small darkened spot of thin or rubbed glaze, and there’s a tiny fleck below the lip. Light surface scratches, old felt pad remnants underneath. -
