Description
Antique agate mounted and cameo inset walking stick
Continental, c. 1900
Height 91cm, diameter 5cm
Expertly fashioned in around 1900, this exquisite walking stick is crafted from premium materials, with earthy hues that blend harmoniously.
The elegantly shaped handle is masterfully sculpted from agate, a gemstone renowned for its associations with balance and harmony. Atop the polished agate grip rests a superbly detailed cameo depicting a Roman warrior clad in traditional attire. Every element, down to the intricate hair texture, reflects the artisan’s remarkable craftsmanship. A refined gilt border encircles the carving, echoing the golden accents that connect the stone handle to the slim wooden shaft. The tapered wood shaft culminates in a durable ferrule.
With its meticulous artistry and sophisticated design, this antique walking stick is a superb addition to any collection. -
