Silvered Bronze Art Deco Statue Pair featuring a woman reaching and grasping the antlers of a deer, a rare version “Chasing the Hind” Designed by Aurore Onu French circa 1930. Outstanding classic and cubist design, female figure flowing and blowing hair chasing the “hind”, The mythical image rendered in the Art Deco style takes the imagination beyond the matching bookend designs. Each piece represents a serious sculpture on its own, but together, it is a powerful pair. Rarely signed, you can see the signature in the bronze/onyx base.

Aurore Onu
Born in Bucharest, Romania, and moved to Paris in the 1920s. There she met the sculptor Marcel André Bouraine and became his companion (at this time they were neighbors of Pierre Le Faguays).
